He is the wine columnist for The Weekend Australian Magazine, wine editor for Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine, and a regular contributor to consumer and trade magazines. Max’s first book, Red and White: Wine Made Simple - in 1997 has received high acclaim and he has won many prestigious awards. His other books include Yarra Valley Wineguide; Sniff, Swirl and Slurp; Crush: the New Australian Wine Book; and The Really Useful Pocket Wine Book. The latest, Terra Australis – The New Australian Wine Tradition, about the winemakers putting the heart and soul back into Australian wine, will be published by Hardie Grant in 2009. Over the last 15 years, Max has been a regular and enthusiastic - if rather sceptical - judge at various Australian wine competitions and wine shows. Amy Russell, Director – Natural Resources, Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (Climate change - streamlining emissions and financial reporting) Amy is responsible for the development and implementation of the Australian wine industry’s environmental stewardship program and tracking export market assurance trends. She convenes the Wine Industry National Environment Committee, is Co-Chair of the International Federation of Wine and Spirits’ Sustainability Committee, and sustainability spokesperson for the International Federation. She is the wine industry’s representative in consultation surrounding a plethora of Greenhouse Gas accounting standards. Amy is also working with national wine industry representatives from New Zealand, USA and South Africa to develop the International Wine Carbon Protocol and Calculator. |
