The five-day New Employees Workshop is the ideal way to get your new starters up to speed by providing insight and understanding of the key technical issues, practices and procedures encountered day-to-day in a busy accounting firm.

Program highlights

This intensive program gives new employees a thorough introduction to key areas of practice operations, including tax and superannuation and auditing. It also provides a hands-on approach to the preparation of statements, reconciliations, reports and returns and points out the issues on which to seek appropriate advice. 

Day 1: Accounting/Business Performance

  • Bank and cash book reconciliations
  • Basic profit and loss and balance sheets
  • Introduction to a typical client accounting package and its functionality

Day 2 – Day 3: Taxation/Taxation and GST

  • The Australian taxation system
  • Basic individual and company tax returns
  • Tax reconciliations for various entities
  • Basic BAS and calculation of quarterly instalments.

Day 4: Superannuation/Business Etiquette

  • The superannuation system and basic superannuation tax returns
  • Professional appearance and courtesy
  • Resourcefulness and being a team player
  • Adhering to client demand, deadlines and productivity.

Day 5: Audit

  • Perform and execute competent audits
  • Assess the risks of material mis-statements and perform more rigorous assessments
  • Assess and analyse impacts of working with various clients
  • Analytical review of clients’ pre and post audits.

Who should attend?

This workshop is designed for accounting graduates or trainees, in small to medium practices who have up to six months work experience.
