How has being a Chartered Accountant helped you develop your career?

I had been working in Chartered Accounting for a number of years, and although I loved my work I was ready for a new challenge. I had been involved with staff training, and enjoyed teaching, and research also seemed appealing so academia it was. As an academic I also have the opportunity to stay involved in Chartered Accounting through consulting assignments so I now really get the best of both worlds.
