The Student Challenge launched in March introduced students to Chartered Accounting and offered them an opportunity to present their solutions to the organisations leaders and travel to see their cause in action as well as win Apple Mac laptops and iPods.

The first challenge with Oxfam Australia attracted 21 teams of business and commerce students from around Australia and Monash University student Jarrod Bayliss-McCulloch was announced as the overall winner.

The second challenge with Médecins Sans Frontières Australia, the Australian section of the world’s leading independent medical-humanitarian aid organisation, attracted 18 teams. Students were asked to formulate seven key performance indicators for areas such as cost effectiveness, human resources, awareness and independence and ethics.

The third challenge with the Australian Conservation Foundation asked students to develop strategies to minimise the impact of a potential recession on the Australian Conservation Foundation’s organisation and activities attracted four teams.
