Chartered Accountants Meet the Business Leaders: The NSW Students and Educators Relationship Management team held the inaugural Meet the Business Leaders event on Tuesday, 5 August 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney. This was a new initiative for the Institute in 2008 and was a structured progressive dinner providing an opportunity for 165 year 10 and 11 students to meet with 31 Chartered Accountant hosts. The evening enabled students to speak with a range of Chartered Accountants about their careers and firms and to take away tips on personal branding.

Member contact program: The NSW relationship management team have been very active in interacting with, and updating members, via breakfast briefing sessions and meetings in members offices. The role of the NSW relationship managers is an important part of our ongoing support of members to ensure we address issues as they arise and to provide updates to members on Institute initiatives and new products and services.

Vacation Employment evening: On Thursday, 21 August 2008, a very successful evening was held at the Four Seasons Hotel for university students in their second or penultimate year. The evening provided participating members, offering summer vacation employment, with the opportunity of meeting over 400 students interested in a career in accounting.

Members sporting events: It's not too late to register your team in the annual Netball and Basketball tournament which is being held on Sunday, 14 September 2008. To register your team download the relevant registration form from the Institute's website.

For those energetic young members wishing to take advantage of the Institute's sports events, the next event will be the annual Touch Football tournament scheduled for Sunday, 19 October 2008. Unfortunately, due to field restrictions by the venue, team numbers will of necessity be limited so early registration is encouraged. Watch the Institute's website for when registrations open.

Volunteers needed: As indicated last month one of the Institute's charity partners Alzheimer's Australia is holding a Memory Walk on World Alzheimer’s Day, Sunday, 21 September 2008. The walk is focusing on raising $55,000 to purchase a ‘Memory Van’. Alzheimer’s need volunteers to assist on the day. If you are available and interested in getting involved please contact Coralie Hicks phone 02-8875 4652 or email CHicks@alznsw.asn.au
