Young Members Of The Institute Deserve Recognition

Mindful of the enormous contribution that young members make to the Institute David Smithers, Past President, inaugurated an annual prize in 1996 known as the "President’s Prize" award.

As you are aware the prize, of $1,000, is awarded to a member of the Institute, under the age of 35, who has done the most for the Institute in the preceding twelve months.

The prize is to be seen not only as a reward for the recipient but also as an incentive to other young members to become more involved with their Institute. It is not an academic prize but a symbol of recognition of service to their professional body.

To be considered for the prize the young member must have made a significant contribution to the Institute. For example they could be recognised as an ambassador for the Institute, have raised the profile of the Institute or been instrumental in recommending initiatives.
