In a press release today, the Institute said that the case has never been stronger for an overhaul of Australia's fringe benefits tax (FBT) regime and is calling on the government to reform the tax. The Institute's recommendations were released in a report entitled Fringe benefit tax design: decision time, commissioned by the Institute and written by Associate Professor Neil Warren from Atax, Faculty of Law, University of New South Wales. The report argues that there are considerable economic efficiency, equity and simplicity opportunities to be gained from the introduction of three major reforms.
