The Institute has appointed a manager dedicated to tackling issues that affect members who work in business. The move underlines a firm commitment to provide tailored, relevant resources for members.

Karen McWilliams, Manager Chartered Accountants in Business
Karen McWilliams brings with her a breadth of expertise and experience. After gaining a degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Oxford in the UK, she spent six years in audit and assurance with Deloitte in London and Ernst & Young in Sydney. This was followed by two years working in statutory reporting at WorleyParsons Ltd, an ASX listed global professional services provider.

Growing influence
Bill Palmer, General Manager Standards & Public Affairs, stated that the new role was part of a sustained effort to represent and assist members working in business:

‘Karen will help members develop their career by providing a knowledge network so that they can keep up-to-date with emerging issues impacting their roles and responsibilities.

‘This focus recognises the increasing demands which are being placed on members in business to assist senior management in improving operational performance and strategic direction,’ he said.
