Not-for-profits on their way to reporting clearly

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is named winner of the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia Australian PwC Transparency Awards. 
 
Australian Community Support Organisation (ACSO) was named runner up at the Awards event in Sydney on Thursday, 17 April 2008. 
 
The Awards recognise and encourage ongoing improvement in the quality and transparency of reporting in the not-for-profit (NFP) sector. 
 
There were 35 submissions received from Australian NFP organisations that were endorsed by the ATO for charity concessions and met a strict criteria that included generating a revenue or more than $10m. 
 
The winner of the Awards, JDRF, demonstrated clear, well written and easily accessible reporting with the inclusion of a five year strategic plan on their website, allowing stakeholders to understand the future plans of the organisation. 
 
Runner-up, ACSO, also clearly demonstrated their intention to be transparent and provided very comprehensive and readable information that is easy to access. 
 
Winner JDRF and ACSO will receive $20,000 and $10,000 respectively towards sending member(s) of their organisation on training and development or study tours. 
 
According to Graham Meyer, the Institute’s CEO who was on the judging committee for the awards said, ‘There are more than 700,000 NFPs in Australia and partnering with PwC for the Transparency Awards continues the thought leadership work we have done to provide guidance for NFPs on the latest reporting standards.’
