The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (the Institute) has appointed Gary Arcus to the role of Regional General Manager for WA, effective 15 September, 2008.

Mr. Arcus has most recently worked with the Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCI) WA as Manager Key Client Relations, with heavy involvement in their training and apprenticeship programs. Previously he managed the CCI’s registered training organisation.

Mr. Arcus holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from UWA, and an Executive MBA from Curtin.

“Gary is very familiar with the role of member-based professional organisations and understands the rewarding and exciting career opportunities the right training and development can give. He will be an important asset in promoting the global opportunities for accounting professionals in WA,” said Elaine McFadzean, the Institute’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer.

As well as inspiring the Chartered Accountants of tomorrow, in his new role at the helm of the Institute’s WA office Mr. Arcus will be responsible for advocating the interests of local members on both state and national issues.

“It is an honour to be able to work with leaders in Chartered Accounting to promote and develop the profession in WA,” said Mr. Arcus. “Our challenge is to bring people into the profession in an increasingly competitive career market, while ensuring members maintain their leading-edge knowledge and practice. My objective is to listen to members and to integrate our service with national and specialist expertise,” he said.
