The Chairman’s appointment was welcomed by the Institute’s Western Australia General Manager, Mr Gary Arcus who said his long-standing membership and experience in the industry would add value to Board deliberations.

“I am pleased to welcome Tony as Chairman. Tony offers a wealth of experience to the Board which will be of immense value to us as we continue to grow our membership,” said Mr Arcus.

Mr Mel Ashton was also appointed as a new member to the Board, effective January 2009.

In conjunction with the new board appointments, the Institute held its Western Australia AGM and members’ ceremony which marked a special occasion in acknowledging long-standing members of 40, 25 and 10 years.

The Institute’s CEO, Mr Graham Meyer highlighted the achievements of the organisation over its 80 year history and commended those who had been members for 40 years.

“First opening in 1928 with 688 members, the Institute now represents over 48,000 members in Australia and worldwide. Our recent partnership in the Global Accounting Alliance has helped to expand our membership on an international level,” said Mr Arcus.
