The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (the Institute) today announced that Mr Nigel Stevenson and Mr Darren Ball have been appointed to the Institute’s South Australian Regional Council.

The newly appointed Regional Councillors will provide direction for the ongoing management and operation of issues directly impacting the Institute’s regional members including, public policy, government legislation and regulation.

The Councillors’ appointment was welcomed by the Institute’s South Australian and Northern Territory General Manager, Mark Jones who said their experience and expertise in accounting standards, auditing and other related advisory services relevant to the industry, would bring valuable insights to the council’s discussions.

Mr Stevenson is a partner of Ernst & Young, specialising in Assurance & Advisory Business Services. He has 13 years’ experience in conducting statutory audits and provides accounting advice to a range of industry sectors.

Mr Ball holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Adelaide and is a partner of KPMG with over 14 years’ experience in financial statement audits and other related advisory services. He was also a member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia SA Inc. annual report panel where he was responsible for judging financial statement sections.

“Both Councillors hold valuable knowledge of the industry which will be well received in council discussions. Nigel brings an extensive understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and reporting requirements for Australian listed companies, and Darren can provide valued input around issues facing start-up companies and auditors,” said Mr Jones.
