Business Leader Awards Winner

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia together with Perpetual is proud to announce Dr Brian McNamee, Chief Executive Officer of CSL as the winner of its annual Chartered Accountants Business Leader Award. 
 
McNamee was revealed to be the number one business leader at the Institute’s annual black-tie awards tonight, as attended by many of Australia’s leading business identities. 
 
In receiving the overall Business Leader Award Dr McNamee has demonstrated excellence in translating vision into reality, exhibiting best practice, fostering good employee relations and leading by example in the arenas of social and corporate responsibility.  
 
Receiving the award, Brian McNamee said he was honoured to be chosen as the 2007 business leader, particularly from such an impressive field of nominees. 
 
Mr McNamee said: " This award is a recognition of the contribution which the entire CSL team has made to the Australian community. We feel very honoured.” 
 
McNamee praised awards such as the Chartered Accountants Business Leader Award, for presenting an opportunity to celebrate those who have excelled across all spectrums of business.  
 
The Institute’s CEO Graham Meyer said, “In receiving the overall Business Leader Award Dr Brian McNamee has demonstrated excellence in translating vision into reality, exhibiting best practice, fostering good employee relations and leading by example in the arenas of social and corporate responsibility”.  
 
Other winners on the night included Mr Matthew Quinn, Managing Director, Stockland, who won in the Property and Finance Sector, Chip Goodyear Chief Executive Officer and BHP Billiton who won in the Resources Sector.  
 
The Outstanding Chartered Accountant in Business Award winner was Phillip Green, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Babcock Brown. 
 
Previous winners of the Business Leader Award include: Allan Moss, CEO of Maqcuarie Bank, Malcolm Broomhead, CEO of Orica, Michael Chaney AO, MD and CEO of Wesfarmers, Paul Little, Managing Director, Toll Group, Wal King AM, CEO and Group Managing Director, Leighton Holdings and Paul Anderson, former CEO and Managing Director, BHP Billiton.
