Chartered Accountants Business Leader Awards 2007, proudly partnered by Perpetual:

Australia’s leading business identities will gather in a few weeks to find out who is the number one business leader at the Chartered Accountants Business Leader Awards dinner. The Awards are designed to acknowledge the exceptional achievements and leadership of Australia’s business leaders. Jointly presented by Perpetual, the awards have grown to be recognised as one of Australia’s premier business events.

Hosted at the Sydney Town Hall, the awards night was a culmination of months of deliberation by the judging panel who assessed the nominees on criteria including; visionary leadership, innovation, risk taking, adding value, best practice, employee relations and contributions to the community.

"Their brief was to begin with the bottom line, the vital numbers that reveal the full story of a company's operations," the Institute's CEO Graham Meyer said.

Such numbers are a clue not only to the way business leaders manage their fiscal responsibility, but also how they engage with their employees, and manage environmental issues and organisational sustainability.

Acknowledging leading Chartered Accountants as well as leaders in the business community, the Awards are split into two categories: Business Leader Award and Outstanding Chartered Accountant in Business Award.

This year the Institute received over 40 submissions. Some of this years nominees include:

  • Chip Goodyear, Managing Director and CEO, BHP Billiton Limited
  •
  • Mathew Quinn, Managing Director of Stockland
  •
  • Phillip Green, Managing Director and CEO of Babcock Brown
  •
  • Terry Davis, Group Managing Director of Coca Cola Amatil
  •
  • Anthony Bell, CEO of Bell Partners
  •
  • Graham Wood, CEO and Managing Director of Wotif.com.au

The winners will be announced at a black tie dinner on Friday 9 March 2007 at Sydney Town Hall.

The Institute’s Chief Executive, Graham Meyer said the awards, now entering their eighth year, and for the second time partnered by Perpetual, consistently attracts Australia’s top leaders and Chartered Accountants.

“The awards evening promises to be a great night of celebration bringing the Australian business community together to acknowledge the outstanding performance and contribution of its own, and fundamental role played by business and its leaders in our economy,” Mr Meyer said.

Interviews will be made available with the winners, upon request.
