According to philosophers Easter signifies hope and new life and for final year students, a career in accounting could be the turning point this Easter. Do you want a career that gives you the opportunity to travel the world, that gives you a post-graduate qualification and that is a springboard to a senior management job? If you do, then a career as a Chartered Accountant is what you want!

For those studying a commerce, accounting or business degree considering work in accounting, 94 per cent will be in full time employment within four months of graduating. According to the Department Education & Training, accounting will be one of the biggest sources of jobs in the next few years. Industry research suggests there is one qualified accountant for every four jobs.

Chartered Accountants are recognised for their skill and expertise all over the world. Currently, fourteen per cent of the Institute members are using these qualities to travel the world, get paid and gain experience that Australian employers see as advantageous. As a founding member of the Global Accounting Alliance, the Institute has mutual recognition agreements with the United States, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Ireland, Scotland, Hong Kong and England & Wales.

According to Graham Meyer, Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, “The Chartered Accountants Program is designed for people that want a career in accounting, but don’t want to stop there. The thoroughness of the course ensures that the designation opens doors and helps take your career wherever you want it to go.”

Our graduates work across a range of sectors including, commerce, practice, government, small business, and overseas in many different industries. More than 60 per cent of CFO’s in Australia’s top 500 companies are Chartered Accountants,” Meyer continued.

The Institute is the only professional accounting body that offers Graduate Diploma status, providing exemptions for over 60 Masters programs around Australia.
