The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia today announced the appointment of Mr Neil Faulkner to the role of President.

As President, Mr Faulkner will lead the Board in setting and governing the strategic direction of the Institute. His appointment follows a series of external posts for Mr Faulkner, including Board and Audit Committee Member of the Institute; as well as Audit Committee Member of several Victorian Government Departments, such as the departments of Energy and Natural Resources, Housing and Planning and Justice.

Mr Faulkner brings a wealth of business acumen to the role, having specialised in the provision of audit and advisory services to the Consumer and Industrial Markets in his capacity as an Audit and Advisory Partner in KPMG Melbourne.

He has also undertaken major advisory roles in both the public and private sectors for some of Australia's leading listed and private companies and the Federal Government.

Announcing Mr Faulkner's appointment, Graham Meyer, CEO of the Institute said: "The Institute is set to gain a great deal from Neil's leadership. In particular, his extensive experience in the audit and advisory arena will prove invaluable insight at a time when our members are working in an environment with increasing technical, governance and regulatory issues”.

Mr Faulkner added: "I am looking forward to working on behalf of the Institute's 43,000 plus members and contributing to the future direction of the profession".
