Q: What is the Candidate Society?

A: All candidates now belong to the Candidate Society, which includes new networking opportunities for candidates studying the Chartered Accountants Program. All candidates now have also access to a new range of benefits, including an annual conference (tailored for candidates), networking events, a module specific study support program and other benefits.

Q: Why is the Institute launching this initiative?

A: The Candidate Society has been developed to help increase candidate interaction with the Institute while they study the Chartered Accountants Program.

The aim is to provide candidates with a range of new benefits to help keep them engaged on their journey to membership of the Institute.

The Society provides candidates with:

  • Professional and social networking opportunities with other candidates
  • Career building tools
  • A balance of interpersonal, communication and technical skills over and above those provided within the Chartered Accountants Program.
  • Access to a new study group – the CA Study Masterclass (previously known as the Candidate Development Program).

Q: When will the Candidate Society commence?

A: All current candidates automatically became part of the Candidate Society in late March 2010.

Q: What benefits does CA Study Masterclass offer candidates and employers?

A: Candidates:

  Employers: Your staff (current candidates) will access:
  • A way to connect with like-minded people who share similar experiences and career goals
  • Tailored events, including an annual conference and networking evenings
  • Study support options, plus workplace and networking skills building opportunities
  • Discounts on a range of products and services (via Member Benefits program)
  • A range of tailored benefits, including an annual conference, networking events and study support options, enriching their learning experience and professional development
  • Opportunities to develop both soft and technical skills essential in today’s business environment
  • Events with minimal fees to attend, and only charged per event attendance
    In turn they’ll be in a stronger position to add value to your organisation.

Launch event

The exciting FREE launch networking event is now being held in most states around Business Forum 2010. There are giveaways, food and drinks, and plenty of opportunities to network. Candidates will hear from Justin Herald, who is respected as one of Australia's leading authors, on getting more out of life. Justin is a man who hasn't just done it. He is still doing it! This makes for a witty and entertaining speaker. Candidates can now register to attend these events on the Institute’s website at http://www.charteredaccountants.com.au/A123845889, which also includes dates and locations of each event.

Q: How will candidates hear about upcoming events in their local area?

A: Candidates will be able to access information about upcoming Society events via the myCA portal and the candidate page on the Institute’s website.

The quarterly Candidate eNews will also provide details of upcoming events, and direct invitations will also be sent via email.

Q: What does the Candidate Society offer?

A: Candidates can attend networking events at little or no cost, and can attend their own low-cost conference to obtain soft skills, technical skills and take part in networking opportunities.

As part of the Candidate Society communications we will also be reminding candidates that they also have access to an in-depth study support program and automatic access to the full range of benefits offered under the Institute’s Member Benefits Program. Benefits specifically targeted at candidates may also be developed within the Member Benefits Program. It’s all about enhancing candidates' progression towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. The range of tailored benefits will enrich their learning experience and their personal and professional career development.

Q: Does it cost anything to join?

A: There is no joining fee for the Candidate Society. Event fees for the annual conference and networking events will be affordable and charged on a ‘per event’ basis.

Q: How much do the events cost to attend?

A: The launch event is FREE. Future event fees will be affordable and only charged for those attending the events. Networking events will cost around $60 each to attend, and the annual conference will cost around $100 to attend.

Q: How do I join the Candidate Society?

A: All candidates studying the Chartered Accountants Program now automatically belong to the Candidate Society.

Q: As an employer, how will the Candidate Society benefits our employees and workplace?

A: The Candidate Society provides access to a new range of benefits for our staff undergoing the Chartered Accountants Program, including access to an annual conference (tailored for candidates), networking events, an in-depth study support program and new member benefits. All events are optional.

Candidates can attend skills orientated networking events at little or no cost and can also attend their own low-cost conference to obtain interpersonal, communication and technical skills, and take part in further networking opportunities. All essential in developing your young employees so they can in turn add extra value to your organisation.

Candidates will also have access to an in-depth study support program, CA Study Masterclass, and have automatic access to the full range of benefits within the Institute’s Member Benefits Program.
