The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (the Institute) has been authorised by the Australian Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) to undertake skills assessments for the occupations of Accountant, Finance Manager, Accountant-Corporate Treasurer and Accountant-External Auditor for the purpose of migration to Australia.

Before applying for a skills assessment it is important that you obtain the booklet called "General Skilled Migration" which is available from Australian embassies, consulates and the offices of the Australian Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC)

The Institute is one of the relevant assessing authorities for the following occupations:

  • Accountant: ASCO Code 2211-11
  •
  • Finance Manager: ASCO Code 1211-11
  •
  • Accountant-Corporate Treasurer: ASCO Code 2213-11
  • Accountant-External Auditor: ASCO Code 2212-11

If you would then like the Institute to assess your skills for migration purposes you will need to fill out the Pre-Application Skills Assessment (PASA) form. The application form contains detailed information about the required documents and a return address, as well as an outline of the assessment process. Please note that applications sent by email cannot be accepted. Our assessment fee and processing times are updated regularly.
Before lodging your application with the Institute please read about the recognition of accounting qualifications by the Institute. This information will also help you to estimate whether the Institute would assess your skills as suitable for migration in the skilled migration category. For more information please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions

Please note that the above applies to assessments for migration purposes only.

If you wish to become a Chartered Accountant and you are intending to undertake the Chartered Accountants Program in Australia, Malaysia or Singapore, more information and an assessment form is provided in the Chartered Accountants Program.
