On his own admission the Professional Conduct Tribunal found a case established that Mr Cameron was liable to disciplinary action in accordance with By-law 40(e), in that on 28 August 2006 the Companies Auditors and Liquidators Disciplinary Board, being satisfied on the application of the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) that he had failed, within the meaning of subsection 1292(1)(d)(i) of the Corporations Act, to carry out or perform adequately and properly the duties of an auditor in relation to the audit of the company accounts and the consolidated accounts of a company for the years ended 30 June 2001 and 30 June 2002, ordered that:

    1. his registration as an auditor be suspended for a period of nine months;

    2. he undertake that:
      (a) in addition to the normal requirements for continuing professional education, he will successfully complete the audit and assurance module of the Chartered Accountants Program run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia before he undertakes any company audit; and

      (b) for each of the first two times he is engaged to conduct a company audit he will not sign the requisite report unless and until he has received a written statement from a registered company auditor that the audit has been conducted to a acceptable standard;

    3. he pay ASIC’s costs of $82,925.

The decision of the Tribunal was that Mr Cameron be reprimanded and required to pay $600 plus GST towards the costs of the disciplinary action.
