NSW Forensic Accounting SIG Meetings 
 
Meetings are a great way for members to meet with other members as well as hear speakers from a wide variety of backgrounds.  
 
Attendees qualify for 1.5 CPE hours.

NSW Discussion Group - July 23 
 
Morgan Kelly CA, Partner, Ferrier Hodgson presented at the forensic accounting special interest group luncheon on "Insolvent Trading", followed by a brief discussion by Justin Bates, Lawyer, Gadens on the following points: 
 
1. Difficulty of knowing when a company insolvent (refer to recent case of Sutherland v Hanson)  
2. This causes uncertainty for directors  
3. Reason why recent commentators have been calling for an additional defence based on business judgment.

David Bird, Chairman of BizExchange, spoke at a recent discussion group for the forensic accounting discussion group. 
 
The topic was “The BizExchange Index, a quarterly review of values for private Australian businesses” presented by David Bird, Chairman of BizExchange.

Presenter: Catherine Kennedy, Professional Standards Consultant at the Institute of Chartered Accountants. 
 
Topic: "AML/CTF reform: what will this mean for forensic accountants and members in practice?"

Thursday 5 June 2008 
 
Presenter: Andrew Ross FCA 
 
There were two parts to the presentation given by Andrew Ross. The first part covered the 10th anniversary of the FASIG and looked at the significant achievements by the FASIG group over the last 10 years.  
 
The second part of the presentation involved a walk through guide to the exposure draft APES 215. Particular emphasis was given to new points and to points that could require further clarification.
