How and when am I allocated to a focus session?
In what situations can I transfer my focus session to a different day/location?
What documentation do I need to change my focus session day/location?

Q: How and when am I allocated to a focus session?

A: During the enrolment process you select your preferred learning location, and also indicate your preference of weeknight / intensive weekend / split weekend focus session options.

The Institute establishes focus sessions with approximately 23 candidates per group. The Institute will post an announcement on myCA two weeks prior to your first focus session informing you that your focus session details have been released. This advice will include information on how you can access these details.

Focus session details are viewed via the Institute’s secure website.

Q: In what situations can I transfer my focus session to a different day/location?

A: You can transfer your focus session for one of three reasons:
  • Illness
  •
  • Work commitments such as travel to another state
  •
  • Unexpected Incident such as a funeral

Q: What documentation do I need to change my focus session day/location?

A: You must request a transfer in writing via email to service@charteredaccountants.com.au. This email needs to contain your name, candidate number, module, group and the reason for the transfer. The dates/focus session the request will effect.

In all cases you need to provide the Institute with supporting documentation.

For illness we need a doctor’s certificate. In the case of work commitments, we need an email directly from your manager or mentor supporting your request for a transfer.

If you are requesting a transfer for an unexpected incident, they still need to provide us with supporting documentation. The type of document depends on the situation.

Attendance at the transferred session will only be allowed once supporting documents have been provided. (eg. If you are sick, and your focus session is that night, it may not be practical to get the Doctor’s certificate prior to the session. In this instance, it will need to be provided prior to attending the transferred session).

NB: We cannot action a transfer until we have received all of the correct documents.
