The accounting industry’s key reference bibles to Australian accounting and audit standards are available now for purchase.

In partnership with publisher John Wiley & Sons, the Institute has just released the next edition of its popular Chartered Accountants Financial Reporting Handbook 2009 and the companion volume, Auditing and Assurance Handbook 2009.

Students and educators can now access the latest Australian Financial Reporting Standards to assist their study during 2009. The Handbooks are regarded as essential guides for those involved in business and accounting education. As well as updates to the latest technical standards, the Handbooks are a convenient way to have fast and all-in-one access to the Institute’s Code of Conduct.

What’s in the Financial Reporting Handbook 2009?
The Financial Reporting Handbook 2009 contains the new Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB), Australian accounting standards and other relevant Australian GAAP applicable as at 1 January 2009. It also includes relevant ethical pronouncements.

What’s in the Auditing and Assurance Handbook 2009?
The companion volume, Auditing and Assurance Handbook 2009, contains all the latest and revised Australian audit and assurance standards and guidance statements. It also includes the latest ethical pronouncements and miscellaneous professional statements as at 1 January 2009.

Sheena Frenkel, General Manager for the Chartered Accountants Program and Admissions at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, says that given the nature of Australia’s fast changing business and regulatory environment, it is important to stay up to date.

“Some of the changes to the standards since the 2008 edition have been quite subtle, so that’s why it will be important for students and academics to have the most up-to-date publications. Both handbooks are easy to use and navigate and are widely regarded as the profession’s bibles because they are so comprehensive.”
