Revised major project format

Starting with EBA108, the format of the major project has been revised following feedback and a review conducted by the Institute’s academic advisor, Professor Allen Craswell.

The word length required and the time frame given to complete the project have been shortened. The view was that a shorter word length would mean candidates would need to be more disciplined in their choice of what to include, tighter in their analysis and therefore more succinct and in line with the real world demands of economy and focus.

The major project is now a 4000 word format. Part A is an executive summary of 500 words with three weeks for submission from commencement of the module. Part B is a 3500 word report due in 5 weeks.

An important benefit of the new model is that backstop candidates will not have to submit Part A of the major project prior to knowing their results of the previous EBA modules, and if successful, will be able to withdraw without penalty.
