The candidate tracker survey held in June 2007 revealed that 88 per cent of candidates are willing/likely to recommend the Chartered Accountants Program and 87 per cent believe the Program is relevant to their career.

The national, bi-annual candidate tracker surveyed more than 680 candidates and helps the Institute gather valuable information on the Chartered Accountants Program.

'We have worked hard over the past two years making changes to ensure that the Program is relevant to candidates and members, and creates work-ready Chartered Accountants. The score of 87 per cent relevancy to career is a great result with candidates able to apply their learning to the work they are doing,' said Sheena Frenkel, general manager Chartered Accountants Program and admissions at the Institute.

The Institute has created more flexibility in the Chartered Accountants Program with a trimester timetable as well as including additional technical content so candidates are capable of dealing with these issues sooner. The three-year practical experience program was also introduced in this period making on-the-job mentoring a key element of the Chartered Accountants Program.

An important focus over the last 12 months has been extending the candidate study tools and resources which has generated satisfaction of 75 per cent for the candidate learning pack as the primary learning tool, compared to 56 per cent two years ago.

The survey also found that overall candidate satisfaction with the Program is at 65 per cent, in line with the previous survey in November 2006 and a significant increase in the first survey results in November 2004.
