Code of Practice

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia's Recruitment Code of Practice has been developed in cooperation with Chartered Accountant firms and commercial organisations and provides a framework that clearly spells out the rights and obligations of all involved in the recruitment process - every step of the way.

Who should follow the Recruitment Code of Practice?

The Recruitment Code of Practice applies to both employers and candidates. A candidate is any individual who makes an application for entry-level employment. To those who follow it, it clearly signals the spirit of integrity for which Chartered Accounting is renowned.

Under the Recruitment Code of Practice:

  • Recruitment programs are conducted in an orderly and professional manner
  • Recruitment programs are fair to both candidates and employers
  • Both the employers and candidates are aware of their obligations
  • Candidates are not unduly pressured during the recruitment process
  • Employers can undertake marketing and promotional campaigns
  • Employers, individual members and candidates maintain the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia's high standards of ethics and integrity
