Institute position statement

From time to time, the President is requested to nominate a member or members of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia whom, or one of whom, might then be appointed to perform certain valuation, accounting, arbitration, mediation or other functions or services.

It is the policy of the Institute not to make any such nominations until all parties involved in the dispute or otherwise requesting the nomination have executed a Deed releasing the Institute from all liability in respect of the nomination or the services to be provided by the nominated Member of the Institute, and indemnifying the Institute against any claims in respect of the nomination or the services provided by the nominated Member.

Upon receipt of the Deed duly executed by all parties involved in the matter, the Institute will nominate a member or members who have indicated to the Institute that they would be willing to provide the services in question.

The Institute does not involve itself in the appointment of the Member or the provision of services by the Member. It is the responsibility of the parties involved in the matter to make and rely upon their own inquiries regarding the Member or Members nominated, to discuss and agree fees with them, and to formally appoint the Member they choose.

For more information on nominations by the Institute President, please contact Institute's Service Centre on 1300 137 322 or your state General Manager.
