Meet the Business Leader is aimed at year 10, 11 and 12 high school students. It is an interactive session, where your students can meet and interact with a range of Chartered Accountants, and learn what to expect of a career in business.

When: Thursday, 10 June from 6.00pm
Where: University House, 1 Balmain Crescent, Acton
Who: Year 10, 11 and 12 (parents and teachers welcome)
Cost: Free

University

The Achiever Work Experience Program provides first year accounting students with an opportunity to gain real-life accounting experience for between 2 – 12 weeks, and learn skills that may help them later in their degrees. Best yet, students are paid for their efforts as an Achiever.

Applications open: Sunday, 1 August 2010
Applications close: Friday, 10 September 2010 at 11.59pm
Interviews: September - October
Placements: 2 - 12 weeks from December - February

Employment Evening is aimed at second, penultimate and final year students who are seeking vacation or graduate work. This event allows students to speak with a wide range of employers from the Big 4, Mid-tiers, commerce and government.

When: Tuesday, 16 March from 5.30pm
Who: Second, penultimate and final year students
Cost: Free

Student Challenge is aimed at all university undergraduate domestic students. This is an online competition for students to solve a real-life accounting problem faced by not-for-profit organisation, The Smith Family. Students can work individually or in teams of two, to answer the question. Students will also have access to the Student Challenge webinars and live chat sessions with employers. There are a range of prizes including power lunches with the top employers in your state and also the chance to win an all expenses paid trip to London.

Cadetship Evening is for year 12 students who are interested in working in an accounting firm and study a business/commerce degree simultaneously. This event allows students to speak with a wide range of employers, and learn more about the cadetship recruitment process.

On-campus vacation recruitment events are held each year in August, at a number of university campuses across Sydney. These are for second and penultimate year students looking for summer vacation work. This provides students with access to the Big 4 and Mid-tier employers, to learn more about the types of positions on offer and receive tips on the vacation recruitment process.

Corporate Cocktails are held for all university students in Albury and Lismore. These events give students the opportunity to meet and interact with a range of local employers and learn more about undergraduate, vacation and graduate work available.

Schools Days are run in conjunction with local universities throughout Queensland. These information sessions give students the chance to hear from local Chartered Accountants about their careers; including the challenges, benefits and rewards. Students will also hear from the university about their relevant course offerings and may be taken on a campus tour.

Where: Bundaberg, Cairns, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Rockhampton and Townsville

The Accounting Student Challenge, run in conjunction with the Business Educators of Western Australia (BEWA), is designed to give your Stage 3 year 12 students an edge with exam preparation.You are invited, along with four of your best Accounting and Finance students, to engage in one of four case studies to improve their understanding of the new curriculum. Lead by industry specialists, this event is a great opportunity for students and teachers to get a head start on exam preparation.
