On Monday 23 July 2007 the Institute’s Head Office opened its doors at 33 Erskine Street Sydney.

When the Institute purchased our building at 37 York Street in 1985, there was more than enough space to accommodate 68 staff and the training needs of 15,000 members. During the past 22 years staff numbers have increased to more than 200 and membership is now at 46,000 Chartered Accountants.

This growth is coupled with the phenomenal rate of regulatory change in the last 80 years. In the last 20 years alone, there have been more than 50 major regulatory initiatives introduced that affect our profession. These factors placed significant demand on office space and facilities.

In response, 33 Erskine Street offers the capacity to better meet the needs of an organisation serving a growing membership in a dynamic industry.

A very modern building
We began major construction works in January 2006 when we acquired 33 Erskine Street to ensure the building suits our requirements. Every aspect of the new building has been purpose built so that it is hard wearing, modern, environmentally sound and above all, functional.

The building will be prominently branded with the Chartered Accountants logo, making us a beacon of professionalism and highlighting our presence in the growing financial precinct around Sydney’s King Street Wharf.

Environmentally friendly
Environmentally friendly features have been included in the office wherever possible. For example the office floor ceiling lights are energy efficient, zone controlled and on timers. Motion detectors for lighting in the office floor meeting rooms and toilets have been installed to minimise energy wastage.

In addition, water saving devices are incorporated into the design together with hot water heaters that are solar assisted. We have also implemented a building management system for the air conditioning and plant operation, which includes after hour control on each floor to avoid unnecessary use.

All telephone numbers for reception (02 9290 1344), the customer service centre (1300 137 322) and Institute personnel will remain the same.
