Based on the latest results of the Institute’s Quality Review program, Christin will outline the Top 10 issues practitioners face in achieving audit independence. Using her extensive knowledge of the independence requirements and experience in dealing with related queries from members, Lesley will provide practical input as to relevant safeguards to meet these requirements.

Quality Review Technical Consultant, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
Christin is a regular presenter for the Institute, presenting at various conferences over a number of years as well as recently presenting a number of audit sessions for the Institute’s Live Online training program. Christin is also a technical consultant to the Institute’s Quality Review Program, specialising in audit and assurance matters.
In addition to being a Technical Consultant with the Institute Christin now operates her own practice. Prior to which, Christin held dual roles as Pannell Kerr Forster, managing the national training function as well as a select portfolio of audit clients. She gained her pre-qualification experience at KPMG. Christin has completed postgraduate studies in Adult Education at the University of Technology.

Lesley Simmons FCA
Professional Standards Technical Consultant, The Institute of Chartered Accountants
Lesley Simmons FCA, has been a member of the Institute’s Professional Standards Team since 2000, initially managing that team and now as a part time consultant. Lesley started professional life with a Sydney based sole practitioner and practised in the SMP area prior to joining the Institute’s staff as a Technical Consultant for the CA Programme.
