The Institute is one of the founding members of the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) - an international accounting coalition of the world’s premier accounting bodies - formed in November 2005.

The GAA aims to promote quality professional services, support the global membership, share information and collaborate on international accounting issues. The GAA works with national regulators, governments and stakeholders, through member-body collaboration, articulation of consensus views, and working in collaboration where possible with other international bodies, especially the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). The GAA represents more than 775,000 of the world’s leading professional accountants working in more than 165 countries around the globe.

The Institute is the only Australian accounting body within the alliance.
