Skilled Employment Assessment
From 4 July 2011 the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia will assess skilled employment for those applicants who have received a positive skills assessment from us. You may submit applications to have your qualifications and skilled employment assessed at the same time, however your qualifications will be assessed initially and only if a positive outcome is achieved will we then assess the skilled employment component.
Only skilled employment closely related to your nominated occupation ANZSCO code and Unit Group will be considered in the assessment. Applicants who have had a change of career or whose career has progressed through a series of advancements may have only part of their total employment regarded as relevant for the purposes of the assessment.
To determine if an occupation is closely related to your nominated occupation, please refer to the Australian Bureau of Statistics website for information about occupations in the same unit group as your nominated occupation.
If you have already obtained a suitable skills assessment for your nominated occupation before 1 July 2011 and apply for a visa on or after 1 July 2011, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship will advise if you need to obtain further advice on your qualifications and/or skilled employment from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia. This information will be requested if required to support your claims when the application is assessed.
Skilled employment must be paid and continuous for a minimum of 20 hours per week. Irregular periods averaging 20 hours a week over several weeks/ months will not be considered.
