Application Status

On receipt of your application you will automatically receive an acknowledgement email that will include instructions on how to access the Institute of Chartered Accountants' (the Institute's) secure website to check the status of your application. Included in this email will be your reference number that you will need to quote for any further correspondence with the Institute.

It is important to include an email address in your application. Whilst we are happy to assist you, the best way to check the progress of your application is via our secure website.

If you do need to contact us directly you can email us at service centre and we will assist you with your enquiry.

When you access the Institute’s secure website after receiving our acknowledgement email you will see your skills assessment listed with one of the following statuses:

  • In Progress - We have received the assessment.

  • Awaiting Information - We have received the assessment, but further information has been requested and is needed before we can proceed with the assessment.

  • Closed - The assessment has been completed and a letter has been posted to the address nominated on the application form. Please allow for postage time.

How does the Institute conduct your assessment?

The Institute will conduct a preliminary assessment of your application and then advise you of any outstanding documentation or information that may be required so that we can proceed with your assessment. We can only proceed with your assessment when we have received any outstanding documentation or information.

This processing time is calculated from the date the application is received, provided all required documents have been submitted. If you are required to provide further documentation the processing time will commence once these documents have been received.

Privacy legislation prohibits the Institute from discussing details of the assessment with any third parties unless the applicant has provided a signed authority for us to do so.

To assist us in completing your assessment as quickly as possible, please avoid contacting us within the advertised timeframes. For further information on these timeframes see our page on Fees and Processing Time and visit our Frequently Asked Questions.
