Chartered Accountants Benevolent Foundation

Key Points

  • The Chartered Accountants Benevolent Foundation operates two funds to assist marginalised and disadvantaged Australians
  • Members are encouraged to donate to the Necessitous Circumstances Fund and the Scholarship Fund
  • Donations are tax deductible.

Chartered Accountants are trusted and valued members of their communities and serving the public interest is akin to their ‘social licence to operate’. The Institute is reinvesting in society through the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Foundation Limited (the Foundation).

Members are invited to support two funds which aim to support a culture of social inclusion by positively impacting the education and livelihood of marginalised and disadvantaged Australians.

Necessitous Circumstances Fund

This fund offers financial assistance to individuals in necessitous circumstances, distributed either directly to the recipient or through a charity partner. Applicants will be marginalised and disadvantaged Australians who have a financial need and who are permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

Scholarship Fund

This fund offers scholarships for tertiary education through the Chartered Accountants Program or other approved courses. Applicants will be marginalised and disadvantaged Australians who have a financial need, who demonstrate an interest in accounting and who are permanent residents or citizens of Australia.

The Institute and member bequests have provided seed funding, and members are invited to make direct donations, as well as assist in the identification of recipients. As the Foundation has deductible gift recipient status, donations are tax deductible.
