Miscellaneous amendments to the taxation laws – Exposure draft released

On 13 February 2012, Treasury released exposure draft legislation and explanatory materials covering proposed miscellaneous amendments to the taxation laws. The amendments include minor amendments to the proposed minerals resource rent tax legislation.

The amendments seek to ensure the law operates as intended by correcting technical or drafting defects, removing anomalies and addressing unintended outcomes. The amendments are part of the Government’s commitment to the care and maintenance of the taxation laws.

Treasury is seeking the community’s views on these amendments, and submissions are due by next Monday 27 February 2012. If members wish to provide comments on the proposed amendments, please send them to the tax group this week.
