BAS agent registration deadline - what you need to know by 29 January

If you hold a transitional BAS agent registration (which expires on 29 February 2012), you will need to apply for renewal of your registration by 29 January 2012. The FAQs sets out the options for members to re-register, following the Board’s decision on the CA program not itself being an approved GST/BAS taxation principles course.

Note that members providing ‘outsourced CFO services’ should be aware that you may need to register as a BAS agent, i.e. if you are providing BAS services as a contractor. If you are not aware of the obligations to register, you may be at risk of being in breach of the civil penalty provisions of the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 by providing services while unregistered.
