Minister reminds agents to renew BAS and Tax agent registration

Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Small Business Mark Arbib has issued a press release reminding BAS and tax agents to ensure they apply to the Tax Practitioners Board (Board) to renew their registration before it expires on 1 March 2012.

The Chair of the Board, Dale Boucher, said a transitional registration is available if BAS agents do not meet all of the standard eligibility criteria by the time their current registration expires. A second transitional registration allows another 12 months to complete the standard educational or experience requirements to remain a BAS agent and in a position to renew early in 2013.

The Institute has prepared FAQs on BAS agent registration for members wishing to register to provide BAS services. Members should refer to the FAQs for information on the various options available for registering.
