National Corporate Advisory Committee

The National Corporate Advisory Committee (NCAC) was established, as a result of the increase in numbers of members in business, to help the Institute meet the needs of members in business.

The NCAC considers a broad range of issues and matters that impact members working in business and is supported by state based corporate advisory panels in Victoria, NSW and WA.

Initiatives of the NCAC include:

  • Working in Business
    The Institute has a dedicated webpage to provide members working in business easy access to relevant information to help you stay up-to-date with the latest thinking on current hot topics.  
  • Best Practice Guidance Notes
    Best Practice Guidance Notes are an initiative of the Institute’s Victorian Corporate Advisory Panel to provide finance executives with best practice guidance on key policies and procedures.
    Best practice is about gaining maximum value from standard operating policies and procedures. The first two Guidance Notes in the series cover how to compile a travel and expense policy and the lessons from financial year end 2009.  
  • Climate change and sustainability webpage
    Thiswebpage includes links to recent Charter articles as well as leadership papers and other related tools to enable you to keep up to date on this rapidly changing area.
  • E-bulletins
    The business e-bulletin includes articles now more relevant to members in business. Following feedback from members, the e-bulletins are in the process of being revised so its time to start opening yours.
  • Competency matrix
    The competency framework is aimed at identifying the skill set and competencies needed by members working in business. The tool may assist you identify the areas of skills or competencies you need to develop to progress in your career and the solutions that the Institute offers to assist you.

Paul UrquhartPaul is the Manager of Corporate Reporting at Australia Post. Paul is also a Member of the Victorian Corporate Advisory Panel. Peter BourkePeter is Director of Information Technology for Westfield Limited and has been with the company for three and a half years.
Michael Cottier FCA Qld Yvonne Sneddon FCA SA
Michael CottierMichael is Chief Financial Officer of the Super Limited. Michael is in charge of finance, tax, investment operations, human resources, and legal and company secretarial services. Yvonne SneddonYvonne is a professional company director with board appointments in both the private and public sectors. Yvonne also has broad experience as a member of Finance and Audit and Risk Management committees.

Jo-Ann Long FCA WA

Thomas GribbleThomas is working for Aurora Energy, an electricity retailer and distributor and one of the largest companies in Tasmania. Jo-Ann LongJo-ann is the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary at Latent Petroleum. Jo-Ann is Chair of the Chartered Accountants in Business Panel in WA and a member of Regional Council in WA.
Matt Harrington FCA Vic Nigel Underwood CA NSW
Matt Harrington Matt is a senior member of the Strategy and Commercial Development Group within the Casino Division of Tabcorp Holdings Ltd. Nigel UnderwoodNigel is the Chair of the NSW Corporate Advisory Panel.; Nigel is Chief Financial Officer of Jetset Travelworld Limited after holding senior finance roles in Qantas Airways Limited.
Board Representative –Mel Ashton FCA WA  
Mel AshtonMel is a business consultant and is the Chairman of the Board  of a number of public and large private companies. He has been involved with Institute committees at National and Regional levels for over 25 years. He joined the Institute National Board in December 2008
