Do you know a Chartered Accountant under the age of 35 who has made a significant contribution to our industry?

The President’s Prize was introduced in 1996 by Institute Past President David Smithers FCA to award young members.

The prestigious annual prize offers Platinum subscription to Chartered Accountants Leadership Academy for one year.

‘We encourage members to recognise outstanding contributions by young Chartered Accountants. The prize is offered to a member who has helped raise the profile of the Institute and that of Chartered Accountants. For example they may be recognised as an ambassador for the Institute or have been instrumental in recommending initiatives,’ said Michael Spinks, the Institute's President.

Nominations are open for the 2010 President’s Prize until Wednesday 1 September 2010.

The nomination form provides full details on award criteria or is available by contacting the Manager National Secretariat on 02 9290 5630.

Mary Karolyi was presented with the Presidents Prize at the Victorian AGM held last month. In presenting the Prize, Institute’s President Richard Deutsch said, 'Mary has shown great commitment to the Institute from chairing the Victorian Young Professional Panel to instigating the Institute’s involvement with the ANZ MoneyMinded program.'

Mary, a Financial Controller at the Thomas Duryea Consulting firm in Melbourne, was involved with the Young Professional Panel for more than six years as well as chairing Institute networking events including sport competitions and breakfasts with new members. She has also worked as a Focus Session Leader.

Mary initiated a special program that saw 13 Chartered Accountants (including herself) trained to be able to deliver financial literacy education using ANZ's MoneyMinded program to people most in need of financial education. Mary negotiated with the City of Darebin to partner the Institute and to date, members of the team have presented to migrants, persons in custody serving jail sentences, and young unemployed people.
