Cadetship evening, year 12 students: 23 June 2008
Cadetships allow school leavers to work with a Chartered Accountant employer while undertaking their university degree. The cadetship evening brings employers and year 12 students together so that students can meet the employers, and receive information on the recruitment process and what to expect as a cadet.

Meet the leader, year 10 & 11 students: 14 May 2008
A joint accounting/business careers forum that allows students to talk with professionals from areas as diverse as audit, tax, corporate finance, insolvency, forensic accounting, management accounting and financial reporting.

Discussions with leading professionals allows the students to learn:

  • Why they chose a career in commerce
  • What the strengths and weaknesses of their career are
  • What the key aspects of their job on a day-to-day basis, and as their career progresses
  • What the careers prospects are within their field
  • What the financial and non-financial rewards of their career are.

Most outstanding accounting student award, Year 11 or 12
The award program provides $500 to cover five years, with the school judging who is to receive the award from either year 11 or 12. In return the Institute seeks:
  • Promotion of the award to students, parents and teachers
  • That the award is mentioned in the school newsletter on at least two occasions, and
  • That the Institute is given the opportunity to present the award at a suitable event where practical.
