Aspiration
To partner with community organisations on both a national and local level to position The Institute of Chartered Accountans in Australia as a progressive and caring organisation that gives back to the broader community.

The National Launch of the Everybody Counts program took place initially in Sydney in late June 2006 and then in each state and in Canberra during July and August with our charity partners being in attendance at each event presenting on the work that they undertake in the community.

The program itself is clearly aligned with the Institute's strategic vision "Leading the Profession."
Of the six strategic issues of the 2006-2008 plan, Everybody Counts directly supports:

  • Leadership and competitive positioning of the Institute
  •
  • People and culture

Employee Survey to ascertain the passions of Institute employees:
46% of Institute staff completed the workplace giving survey in April indicating that the top causes they were interested in supporting were:
  • Cancer
  •
  • Children's illnesses and disabilities
  •
  • Animal Welfare/Preservation
  •
  • Youth at Risk
  •
  • Aged Care
  •
  • Major diseases/Medical research

Based on the survey results the Institute's Charity Selection Committee invited ten charities to present to them. In line with what our staff told us they were passionate about, the following charities were selected as our partners:
  • Alzheimer's Australia
  •
  • Cancer Council
  •
  • Camp Quality
  •
  • Inspire Foundation
  •
  • RSPCA

Everybody Counts Program Model
This has been developed covering three strands:
  • Workplace Giving
  •
  • Volunteer opportunities
  •
  • Pro Bono Skills transfer at a National and Local level

Our Achievements in one year
  • Fun launch events
  •
  • Regular feedback and campaigns
  •
  • Volunteering/skill sharing
  •
  • Following the launch of Everybody Counts in 2006 there was 19% staff participation and this has grown to 31% staff participation in the Workplace Giving Program
  •
  • Over $21,000 donated to our charity partners

Benchmarking Against Similar Sized Organisations
The Australian Charities Fund benchmarked Everybody Counts in its first year.
Participation by 31 per cent of staff (and an average monthly donation of $36) placed the Institute 'above average' compared to similar sized organisations including investment banks.
