Tertiary courses in Australia have been accredited by the Institute as satisfying the academic requirements for entry into the Chartered Accountants Program. The Institute updates the listing of tertiary courses each year.  
 
Graduates enrolling into the Chartered Accountants Program are required to hold a recognised Australian degree or an overseas qualification of a standard approved by the Institute, and have completed studies in specific core knowledge areas.  
 
To find out what subjects you need to include in your degree or to see if you meet the Institute’s academic entry requirements for the Chartered Accountants Program, check the relevant accredited tertiary courses list to see if you have passed or are doing the required subjects for your university/degree.  
 
The lists below include both undergraduate courses and also conversion courses for non-accounting graduates.

Please note we do NOT accept faxed or scanned copies of academic transcripts and we will NOT return original academic transcripts unless a self addressed envelope is provided. We encourage you to send an original certified copy. 
 
If you have been granted Recognised Prior Learning (RPL), we also require a copy of the academic transcript where you achieved the RPL. 
 
If you have not completed the listed subjects in the core knowledge areas, you will need to pass the missing subjects in your university or at another university.  
 
If you are not sure whether you have done the right subjects then you can apply for an assessment of your academic qualifications. 
 
If you hold a non Institute accredited Australian degree, an overseas degree or you are a member of a partially recognised overseas professional accounting body, you will need to lodge your assessment application with our offices.
